Carrying on Shabbat
The LA Eruv
The Los Angeles Community Eruv is certified by the Rabbinical Council of California and is one of the largest eruvin in the world. Its published boundary runs from the 10 Freeway north to the 101, and from Western Avenue west to the 405, and it names Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Fairfax among the neighborhoods it covers. By that description, the streets around Bait Aaron, Cedars-Sinai and the hotels on this map sit inside the eruv, though the exact path shifts with construction work.
Check the status every week before Shabbat. The eruv can be down any week, and they update the status on their website before each Shabbat. You can also hear it on their status line at (877) 378-8463 or sign up there for weekly WhatsApp or email updates. Not every posek relies on a large city eruv, so if you are unsure whether to carry, ask your own Rav.
